Home is Where the Love is

Mixed Media is my love...lately.

I have been creating 12 x 12 canvases this year, and enjoy it so much.

So now that I am a part of the Sparkle N Sprinkle family, I get to create with the amazing embossing powders, glitters, stamps, and glues we create, not to mention Tearific Tape, and Tonic Nuvo products we sell...the list goes on and on.

For this 6x6 canvas, I challenged myself to think outside of the card box, so to speak. In doing so, I actually moved into my own comfort zone!

Here is what I used for this project:

Also Available at Sparkle N Sprinkle
Nuvo Vintage Drops in:

Nuvo Embellishment Mousse in:

Nuvo Marker Pen Collection in

Nuvo Dual Tipped Blender Brushes

I also used a piece of a vegetable bag as a stencil.

I hope this inspires you to try mixed media canvases...

Stay tuned for a tutorial on how to create a canvas like this one.

Happy Stamping,

All That Glitters

Aren't these cute?  This is the craft for November in
Scarlett O'Hara's Craft Room!

These 3 adorable buildings are actually created from
cereal boxes. They can be sent in their envelope to a special friend
or relative, then set up on a tabletop with a battery operated tea light beneath.

OR

They can be hung on the tree!

The windows are vellum, to let the light shine through. Since these buildings are not actually decorated for the holidays, they can be enjoyed all winter long.

These are entirely covered in fine glitter, even the darling little trees.
The inside is "wall papered" with Victorian style paper.

Add a little note on the back with the date
to turn these into keepsakes to last a lifetime!

Class is November 1st in the Manor. If you live in the area, you are invited to sign up.

$20 includes everything you need to create these beauties.

Hope to see you there,

Scarlett O'Hara at the Craft Show

My first craft show.  I wanted to get the word out about Scarlett O'Hara's Craft Room, which I opened last month in my community.

The response was amazing!  I will need to expand my class schedule, to include two sessions. I have over 25 people signed up.

The stars are made out of cereal boxes, so I put the work out to all my friends to round up all their boxes and get them to me. I will need 1 1/2 boxes per person...that's a lot of boxes.

The craft show was a great place to run into friends and acquaintances who I have not seen in awhile.

While teaching is my passion, art is my love.

Until we meet again,

ZIA Shoes for My Grandaughters

Aren't these cute? I was walking around in Hobby Lobby before my trip up north to see my daughter and her family, when I came across these white shoes on clearance...my favorite way to shop!
Nora loves shoes, so I thought they would make a perfect gift for the two little girls.

I used Micron pens and extra fine Sharpies.  I tried to incorporate things they like...cats, ducks, lizards, bubbles...you get the idea.

This pair is Nora's  I especially like the way the lacy edge came out.

I also made a pair for my granddaughter Molly, who is six. Hers are lime green.  She put them on as soon as she got them.

This type of art is referred to as "ZIA".  It stands for, "Zentangle Inspired Art."

So much fun...so easy.

September is here...on to Fall!
